'Appy Thanksgiving 2012

"We all live with the objective of being happy, our lives are all different and yet the same." Anne Frank

Each of us sees our life through our own unique perspective,
in relation to our own life experiences (our history).
What are you thankful for today?  I give thanks for rainbows.
When did you last take the time to enjoy a rainbow?  You know,
rainbows are created as the light refracts off drops of water that are
constantly in motion.  No two people see exactly the same
rainbow instead we each see our own unique rainbow.

The one that I remember best was in my own back yard garden.
Los Angeles is known for blue skies and sunshine, but this morning
was misty after a recent rain.  The trees glistened with gratitude as
the sun greeted the deep blueness of the sky.  The birds tweeted
their appreciation as they splashed the fresh rainwater from the
fountain.

We were all enjoying the fresh, clear skies.  And then, I
saw the rainbow.  At first it was faint, barely visible, but as I
adjusted my focus, it was brilliant.  I smiled, as my rainbow brought
me firmly here in the now to enjoy the gift of this present moment.

As you focus on what you must achieve on this present day, take a
moment to enjoy the surprise of your rainbow.  Take a deep breath
and breathe into the smile and as you exhale think peace and calm.
Allow the next few breaths to command your own sense of
relaxation and balance.

You are in charge of taking the time to enjoy
the journey of today, those who are important to you,
giving thanks at Thanksgiving and throughout the holidays.
I'm thankful for rainbows in our lives, for peace, for the joy of smiles
and laughter and for you dear reader.

I wish you 'appy 'olidays filled with smiles, Shirley

Affirmations to change your mind. First you see it, and then you do it.

Change your mind. First you see it, and then you do it.
Abraham Lincoln once said "Most folks are about as

happy as they make up their minds to be."

Imagine...enjoying doing what you are passionate

about today. Fitting in a personal priority by taking action.

What will you focus on today? You are in charge. If you

must pick up a friend at the airport, do you find a way to

fit it in to your schedule? The good news is that you can

bring focus and achievement to two priorities beginning today.

What are two things you need to accomplish today

(to enhance your business or personal success)?

Remember the journey begins with the first step. The

journey is part of the fun when you take small steps

toward what you want daily.

If one of those areas is improving focus, let's consider an

area of your home or business where you could reduce

clutter. Get a mental picture of this area and imagine how

it would feel to have it clean and clear.

Today, I imagine my office finally free of clutter. I move a

cloth across my computer to remove a bit of dust. I pick

flowers from my garden and place them on the newly

cleared area next to my freshly organized desk. The clearing

allows room for creativity, releases the clutter and feels so

relaxing. It makes room for new possibilities. How do I begin?

I set the kitchen timer for 15 minutes right now and sort through

those pesky things on my desk that belong in other rooms,

put away items I do not use daily. I sort paperwork (toss, do, file)

and still have time to begin the filing process today. The timer

dings and as I look at the progress, I smile. I breathe deeply

as the sense of calm refreshes my body.

Here are my affirmations for today (and the next 14 days):

I enjoy clearing out the old to make room for new opportunities.

I trust and value myself and my choices.

I write down my affirmations and place them inside my kitchen

cabinet where I keep my coffee mug and will be sure to see them

each morning.

Here's the process again:

  • Choose 2 priorities to focus upon. Select one to act on now.
  • Create a positive affirmation (stated as if it exists today).
  • Begin taking reasonable action now (15 minutes to clear my desk).
  • Take a moment to enjoy the progress toward what you need (ding goes the timer).
  • Celebrate success and the progress. Remind yourself as you prepare to go to           sleep (15 minutes before you drift off to peaceful sleep).

When you are comfortable with the continued progress on this one priority, move on

to the next priority.

Remember the good news - you are in charge of your day. Awareness

and choice are incredible tools for you to focus on for success.

Congratulations on your decision to bring focus back on your priority today.
First you see it, and then you do it. Enjoy the journey today.

Lighten Up as you enjoy Holiday Celebrations

Shirley Vinock Hypnotherapy, Imagery & NLP Blog

Lighten Up as you enjoy Holiday Celebrations

First you see it, and then you do it. How can you use your inner voice (Neuro-Linguistic Programming, NLP), Visualization (Imagery), and Self Hypnosis to lighten up and enjoy your daily journey with food?

As we move past Halloween, and into Thanksgiving the celebrations continue. For many of us, food is a large part of this celebration. We equate eating with a reward like the piece of candy we were given by our parents for being oh so very good. As one of my clients says, "I eat when I am happy; I eat when I am sad. I am just an emotional over-eater."

Relax. How good would it be to relax and enjoy your food in just the right portions to satisfy as you choose to be back in charge of the tug of war with food? Learn to relax naturally as you bring back just the right balance with food.

Andrew Weil, MD and Deepak Chopra, MD recommend releasing stress and relaxing with the natural tools of meditation, yoga or hypnosis as you learn to connect with your relaxed breathing. Would you like to be guided through the process? Listen to Enjoy Breathing Room (free broadcast of Easy Self-Hypnosis by clicking the Radio icon at www.ShirleyVinock.com) or order your phone app of Relax Completely Now from your SmartPhone search by Vinock).

Change your mind. Food is about fueling the body for good health and nourishment. Savoring the flavor of natural, fresh food in just the right portions creates your healthy body. An Affirmation is helpful on this journey. Here's one Affirmation you may enjoy:

I enjoy sensible choices with food in just the right amounts to create my healthy body. I enjoy life and movement.

Take a day off, you deserve it. Calories do count, but take a day off. Your metabolism can use the recharge once each week to help your journey. Still enjoy sensible choices but this is your day to have more carbohydrates than you typically do, or enjoy that other food that is so limited on your daily plan. Come back to a sense of savoring the flavor and enjoying eating again with a new found sensible twist.

Good news! You are in charge. Awareness and choice are incredible tools for you. You have doing this for a while, so I'm sure you know most programs do recommend an awareness of daily calorie count. Most diet programs seem to recommend deprivation (I cannot eat chocolate or dessert or bread or chips).

Calories do count. There are many online calorie counters to make you aware of your daily intake and are fairly easy to use. Use an online tool or a hand written dairy daily until you gain an awareness of your eating choices (the what, when, how, where, who):

  • when (after an argument)
  • what (a half gallon of ice cream or bag of potato chips)
  • where (standing by the counter, fridge or freezer)
  • how (eating from the bag, or container with a spoon, grazing with the fridge door open or eating while walking).
  • who (relationship and emotional issues driving you to food)

My clients enjoy: Everyday Health .com, SparkPeople.com, Weight Watchers and a variety of phone apps.

Count your blessings. Sleep plays such an important role in creating and maintaining your healthy body. Are you one of the four people who now take a pill for sleep (2010, LA Times). As you prepare for sleep at the end of each day, look back with gratitude at each success to release stress and relax. The walk with your spouse, child or dog and how good the cool evening air felt. The healthy foods in sensible portions you ate throughout the day. The great start you and your partner made accomplishing the first step on that huge project. Look back at the smiles and hugs from a child, the personal connections when your friend made you laugh so very hard. Perhaps you enjoyed watching a wonderful movie or a good book. These moments are treasures to be enjoyed as they happen and again at the very end of each day. As this attitude of gratitude reviews the success day, you clear the mind for the success to come tomorrow.

Tonight, I'll celebrate the 100th sale of my new phone apps. I am grateful and hopeful that this is the difference that makes the difference for those who enjoy the apps.

Why wait? How long have you been stepping on the scale and thinking, "Yuck, I've got to lose weight"? Why must it be so hard? It does not need to be so hard. Bring back a sense of ease and grace to your relationship with food as you celebrate success daily.

Shift your relationship with food to a more empowering one of food that satisfies and nourishes as you enjoy your healthy body again. Bring balance to build momentum back as you increase awareness and focus with each step toward success.

When we meet again, we'll explore:

  • Creating an affirmation that resonates with you to move you toward what you need.
  • The Breath of Relaxation to release stress and anxiety and improve focus.
  • Creating momentum for enjoyable movement
  • Cravings be gone.

Why now? Because you are ready to make that change, you are committed to enjoying the journey as you lighten up. It's been a pleasure. Contact me by calling Shirley Vinock (818) 347 4472 for a complimentary consultation or through www.ShirleyVinock.com.

Breathing Room

Welcome to Breathing Room.

What inspires you? What blocks you from living your dream? Let's talk about what works to move you forward. We'll learn from each other as you share your favorite stories on how to motivate action. Momentum builds from the smallest step forward. Moment by moment momentum builds.

I rarely exercised, but discovered the right exercise is fun. I now play tennis regularly with an incredible Tennis Pro and class through the parks and recreation department. It is exhilarating, motivating and most of all fun.
